Masked Maybe

I look

but I don’t see.

I hear

but I don’t listen.

My facade

masks me.

I lie to myself

to protect

the truth

from coming out.

Maybe

I sheathe myself

amongst

the words

the colours

the feel

the taste

the smell

of emotions.

Maybe I look and hear

because I am scared

to see and listen.

Maybe fear

is what

has hold of me;

maybe

maybe

maybe.

Maybe.
