Bubble Wrap

Bubble wrap

When I was a child

I had a little treat –

Popping clear bubble wrap –

I thought is was so neat!

When I was cleaning up,

I found some yesterday.

I sat down to pop it –

It just was not the same.

Then I popped a bubble

and coughed at the same time.

No pleasure was derived –

I could not hear the sound.

For me, popping bubbles

is a thing of the past

Though memories are nice

Enjoyment does not last.

As an adult I think

I fell into a trap –

I’ve now popped the allure –

So now it’s a wrap….

Discussion Questions:

Can you relate to this? Did you like something that you thought was “timeless”, only to learn that it wasn’t?

Have you enjoyed popping bubble wrap . . . ever? Do you still?

Do you like how the use of “wrap” has a double meaning? Is the ending appropriate?

Share your thoughts (any of them) in the comment section, please!

  1. I still get so much pleasure from popping bubble wrap. At my previous job, we organised a de-stress campaign, for revising students. Bubble wrap was given out as a way to help them manage their stress (as well as other things and advice)!

That’s wonderful! What a great way to de-stress!

When I was popping the bubble wrap I found, I was wondering if, perhaps, there wasn’t enough air in the bubbles. Do they still make quality bubble wrap, or is it of a lesser quality these days, I wonder?

I still love to pop the bubble wrap. I still do a lot of childish things though. I am very happy to have some bubble wraps to play. May be that is the reason, people don’t take me seriously.

LOL, I think there is a child in all of us.

Psst, I’ll take you seriously – if you want me to! 🙂

Thanks for your comment! You made my day!

  3. I love popping bubble wrap, its fun and there’s something about the sound that is so appealing.
